Securities class actions get national attention in Wall Street Journal
Securities class actions made headlines news last week when the Wall Street Journal featured an article on page B1 of the Marketplace section. The article examines the rise in securities class action filings which reached 234 last year, the most since 2008. It also acknowledges that the value of securities class actions neared $6.5 billion last year, nearly doubling 2012’s total with the average settlement a record $55 million last year. That value of course does not take into effect “mega-settlements” like the $2.4 billion settlement by Bank of America.
